Sage Smudge Kits and Space Cleansing
Smudging your home or crystals is a great way to get rid of negative energy and cleanse your space. Most homes benefit from a cleansing at least twice a year.
It is best to perform smudging at a time when you will not be disturbed. If possible, open your windows wide, to let in positive energy and allow the negative energies to dissipate. I always use a candle to light my Sage Sticks or Palo Santo wood, rather than messing around with matches.
Move in a clockwise direction around your house (usually starting at the front door), and gently waft the smoke into the air as you move. Spend time smudging the room corners, as they tend to accumulate stagnant energy, you can place crystals in the corners of your rooms to help remove these blockages.
Light your sage smudge stick, and use the Abalone Shell to catch the embers. Once the flame has caught, blow it out, and the stick will gently smoke, rather like incense. It is the smoke that does the work, not the fire. Blow on the embers to generate the cleansing smoke. Use a feather or fan to waft the smoke where you need it. When you are finished, extinguish it by lightly pressing the stick into earth, sand or into your Abalone shell. Never leave a lit sage stick unattended.
If you are using Palo Santo Holy Wood, it is self extinguishing, so you will need to re-light once the smoke has stopped.
You can re-use your Smudge Sticks and Palo Santo Holy Wood, just extinguish them after use and store in a safe, dry place and reuse as needed.
Smudge Kits usually consist of:
Abalone shells (Paua Shells) are a thick seashell which shimmers with the iridescent colours of mother-of-pearl. They hold the energy of the ocean and bring a strong calming energy, allowing you to be connected to the sea. They are great for catching the burning embers of the sage smudge sticks. They come in many different sizes. They have holes and the larger shells have larger holes.
Sage (or Herb) Smudge Sticks
The Smudge stick can be made from Sage or a selection of cleansing herbs (like lavender) or wheat grass. It is burnt and the cleansing smoke is wafted into all the areas of your home that need it. Not forgetting cupboards.
Palo Santo Holy Wood
Palo Santo is a wild tree native to Peru and other countries of South America. The tree, Bursera Graveolens, belongs to the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh and has long been burned for its reputed spiritual purifying properties. Our Palo Santo wood is hand harvested, and totally sustainable.
Feather or Fan
Usually the smoke will be wafted with a feather or fan, some kits do not contain a feather and you can of course waft the smoke with your hands.
Some kits will come with Selenite, which is a cleansing crystal. Selenite never needs cleansing and can recharge your crystals.
